Our Mission is Turf
We in West Bend have a unique situation in regard to our high school football field that separates us from all other schools in the state. We have 2 high schools (225+ players) hosting games on the same football field. We also have a very successful youth football league that includes over 325 of our future high school athletes hosting games on the same field. Wisconsin autumn weather combined with high volume of player “traffic” leaves our home field in both less than safe and/or unplayable conditions at some point during most every season.
Solution:
Removal of existing grass/mud turf, installation of compacted drainage base, and installation of “ProGrass” professional turf surface.
Mission:
Our mission is to raise enough donated funds to replace the existing field. “Operation Turf” will be accomplished without a single district tax dollar going towards the cost of the turf field. “Operation Turf” will also create substantial savings in field maintenance costs. These savings will be “banked” to pay for the eventual need for replacement of the playing surface.
Our Goal:
Our goal is to raise $480,000.00 by May 1st 2011. We plan to achieve our goal through 3 fundraising avenues:
1) Paver Brick sales- The current asphalt walkway from the parking lot to the ticket booth will be removed and replaced with personalized paver brick purchased by “Operation Turf” supporters. (prices range from $99.00-$495.00)
2)Stadium seat sales- The home field bleacher seats will be painted to show the names of the individual/families who support “Operation Turf”. (price=$59.00)
3) Donor Wall- A large donor monument wall will be constructed within the stadium fence to display the high level “Operation Turf” supporters.
($2,500-$10,000 engraved stones/ $125,000-$200,000 field naming rights)
All concrete and masonry work for the paver walkway, monument wall, and field curbing will be donated and completed through a team effort. This team will include the donated services and equipment from local contractors such as S&I Masonry and Duquaine Concrete. The time and effort of West Bend Gridiron members as well as that of West Bend football coaches will be donated to complete the work as well.
If we achieve our fundraising goal by May 1st 2011, construction is scheduled to begin on June 15th, 2011 with a completion date prior to the opening kickoff of the 2011 football season.
